Handmade gifts + teacup candles + cards + sewing projects + tea caddy

Here are a few more ideas for handmade gifts. Some of these projects take a little more time than others, but all of them guarantee a lovely gift, and when you've made them once you'll make them again and again. If you're not a 'crafty' person, please don't be put off ... many of the projects I share on this blog, are things I've only tried once myself, and if I can do it so can you :-)

Tea cup candles

Teacup candles make great presents, and they are so easy to make. I made 50 for my wedding, and it was only my first attempt ... told you, easy! Collect as many teacups as you can (I source all of mine from charity shops) and you can make a large batch in one go. It's ideal pressie for any occasion (if you can bear to give it away!)

Easy to make cushions

This cushion is a very easy pattern to follow. It involves a bit of sewing (on a machine is quicker by you can also sew by hand.) I had a ball making this cushion with Poppy loves last year ... though thanks to the vast quantity of tea, cake and catching up it took us a fair bit longer than normal! You'll find pics of our day and a step by step tutorial on my blog here ...

Fabric and lace guest towels

I loved making these, and I love giving them as gifts. They so simple to make, and can be matched to any interior, so get a sneak peak of your loved ones bathroom and match use similar colours in your fabric. I made some for Mrs Miggins next door once but she said she prefers to use her old brown tea towels.  I used a sewing machine to make these but you can just as easily sew by hand.

Easy-to-make handmade cards

Making handmade cards needn't be complicated. Pick up some plain card, an inkpad and a pretty stamp from Noolibird, and that's pretty much all you need. I love this 'you and me' stamp ... a design like this can also work for all occasions. I made the card below for Hubbington for Valentines day,  but the same stamp could also work for Christmas, birthdays and weddings.

DIY storage box or craft organiser

Here's a new DIY project that took me all of 2 hours to make - it's a  pretty storage box for my teabags! It needn't just be for Teabags though, you can change the labels easily so you could use this little organiser for anything; hair pins, beauty bits, or crafty goodies!
